The Bariatric Guide to Flu Season
Anybody who has previously had the misfortune of suffering from the flu knows that the bug makes it quite difficult to go about and enjoy your day, not to mention the layer of unpleasantness it adds to already mundane tasks. We recognise that flu season is right around the corner so we’ve compiled a list of easy ways to protect against the flu this winter:
Wash your hands with anti-bacterial soap.
Avoid contact with sick people.
Resist the urge to touch your face and mouth if you have not washed your hands after coming into contact with large groups of people.
In the unfortunate scenario that you have contracted the flu, we would like to remind those who have had any form of bariatric surgery to AVOID ANTI-INFLAMMATORY MEDICATION AND HIGH DOSES OF ASPIRINS e.g Grandpa Powder; as it may have negative side-effects. Instead, we recommend the following tips:
Get plenty of rest and sleep .
Try to keep warm.
Use an air-humidifier to keep the air moist.
Be careful of over-the-counter medications. Please contact us first before consumption if you are unsure.
Remember to consult with a physician if symptoms persist or inhibit you from performing your daily tasks. We also recommend to contact our centre if you are unsure about which doctor to see or which medication/treatments to take.
Stay warm, stay flu-free and enjoy the cozy months!
