What to expect from your surgery: Week 10

October 19, 2018

The finish line is in sight for the What to Expect series. The 10th week will focus on something small but very important to keep in mind:

You will always have to listen to the prophets of doom and those begrudging your success

Currently this attitude stems mostly from a profound lack of knowledge, even within the
medical community, regarding bariatric surgery. Misguided and outdated beliefs are still
present in the general populace which arose largely as a result of a procedure called ‘jejeno-
ileal bypass’ (JIB), an unaccredited procedure that was banned in SA.
